Every piece tells a story — discovered in the warehouses and markets of France, Belgium and Hungary.
About Us
A Four-Generation Legacy of European Antiques
Sourced in Europe. Collected with intention. Brought home to California.
While studying for her PhD in European history in Vienna, my mother sent home an antique wall clock to my grandfather as a birthday gift. He was taken not only by its craftsmanship, but by its quiet precision—still keeping perfect time after more than a century. When friends began asking about it, he sensed there was something more in it. What began as a simple gift soon turned into an idea, and before long, small airfreight shipments of clocks were making their way to California.
Between her studies, my mother wandered Vienna's markets, seeking out pieces rich with history and artfulness. She learned by doing, guided as much by instinct as by her understanding of art and time. Each clock she chose felt distinct: hand-carved wood, porcelain faces, worn brass that had aged beautifully. She selected them one by one, with intention.
Every piece was accompanied by a typed index card—notes about where it was found, what made it special, and the moment it was chosen. Once sold, my grandmother would add the final chapter—recording the price and date before sending the cards back across the ocean. It was a quiet rhythm between mother and daughter, a business built not just on objects, but on trust, care, and connection—stretching from Vienna to California.
As a child, I followed closely, helping carry pieces to the car and photographing them before they were packed away. Today, I continue that same rhythm, personally sourcing each piece from European markets, dealers, and private estates. My children, the fourth generation, help carry forward this legacy shaped by hand, memory, and time.
Every piece you see has been hand-selected by me.
In a world of fast furniture—made quickly, used briefly, and often discarded—antiques offer something quieter and more enduring. These are pieces that have already lived long lives, built with materials and methods meant to last. Choosing them is not only a matter of style, but of intention.
I believe a home should feel personal, layered, and collected over time. Our collection centers on French and Belgian antiques from the late 1800s to early 1900s—pieces defined by old-growth wood, traditional joinery, and a character that cannot be replicated.
At Lockeford Antiques, the experience is one of discovery. Each piece is entirely one-of-a-kind, chosen not only for its beauty, but for how naturally it can live within a modern California home.
Whether you are furnishing a space or searching for a single piece with presence, we bring Europe's enduring craftsmanship directly to you—selected with care and meant to be lived with for generations.
