French Brown Glazed Terracotta Handled Jatte #10

French glazed terracotta jatte with a rounded footed bowl and substantial integral handle. The hand-thrown form and partially glazed earthenware surface reflect the practical character of traditional French household pottery. Related jattes were used for a variety of kitchen and dairy tasks, although this handled example differs from the classic pouring-lip cream bowls in the collection.
